ABOUT US

AECO Energy – Engineering that can be measured in kWh and €

AECO Energy is an interdisciplinary team of engineers (energy systems, mechanical engineering, process engineering, building services engineering) focused on refrigeration and HVAC systems, ventilation, BMS/GLT, energy monitoring, and data-driven optimization — serving operators across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), and upon request throughout the EU.

Did you know that many energy awards evaluate innovation in the same way we work?

Our methods and projects are structured to meet the typical criteria of international energy and innovation awards: level of innovation, measurable impact, scalability, and practical applicability in operations.

Examples of renowned awards/platforms whose evaluation criteria we align with — and for which we aim to submit in the future:

  • • EUSEW Awards (European Sustainable Energy Awards) – “Innovation” / energy efficiency category (EU level)
  • • ENERGY GLOBE Award – international sustainability and energy efficiency projects across many countries
  • • Zayed Sustainability Prize (Energy Category) – international award for high-impact energy solutions (especially in SME/NPO contexts)
  • • Platts Global Energy Awards (S&P Global) – global award program in the energy sector
  • • The smarter E AWARD – industry award for energy and mobility innovations (including “Smart Integrated Energy”).
  • • Edison Awards – Energy & Sustainability — an innovation award with a dedicated category for energy and sustainability
  • • Global Energy Prize – international prize focused on energy innovation and impact
  • • Ashden Awards – internationally recognized benchmark for “green energy in practice”

Core message We design solutions to be award-worthy — not for marketing reasons, but because they deliver proven, measurable impact.

Our “innovation stack” — why our optimization approach is different

1) AI-based operational optimization (predictive control)

Weather data + operational data + usage profiles → predictive operation strategies for HVAC/refrigeration, reducing peak loads and preventing malfunctions.

2) Intelligent ΔT engineering

We specifically and measurably reduce ΔT losses between room air and heat exchangers, as well as within refrigeration/hydraulic circuits (not “rule of thumb”), to lower fan/pump energy and improve heat transfer.

3) GEG §71a: energy monitoring beyond a dashboard

We implement §71a-oriented energy and system monitoring in a cost-effective way for existing buildings: capture → analyze → identify efficiency losses → inform responsible parties (including manufacturer-independent data usage).

4) CFD where uniformity matters

Where air distribution and temperature uniformity are critical (e.g., hospitals, labs, sensitive areas), we use CFD to optimize airflow — instead of trial and error.

5) “Energy leak” detection & troubleshooting

We identify hidden excess consumption: sensor/control issues, drift, fouling, incorrect setpoints, airflow short-circuiting, and inefficient operating modes.

Performance-based: investment paid from savings (pay-from-savings — subject to eligibility)

We offer performance-based compensation models — where suitable for the project and client:

  • • Part of the service (or depending on the scope the entire service) is only payable after implementation, once savings have been demonstrably realized.
  • • Billing is based on the realized reduction in energy costs (defined baseline + measurement/verification methodology).
  • • Requirements: creditworthiness check, data access, defined system scope, and clear responsibilities (operation/setpoints/changes).

Important: We structure this professionally as contractually defined targets with a measurement and verification concept (not a generic “marketing promise”), ensuring fairness and reliability for both parties.

What clients typically receive from us

  • • GEG services: §74 inspection (if required) and/or §71a-compliant monitoring concept
  • • Refrigeration optimization: NH₃ / CO₂ / R290 / synthetic refrigerants — efficiency & stability
  • • HVAC optimization: heat recovery, SFP, operating times, control strategy, air distribution
  • • Smart BMS: no “rip-and-replace,” manufacturer-independent data usage, KPI-driven operation
  • • Results focus: prioritized action packages (quick wins vs. investments) + optional verification

DACH focus — delivery across the EU

Our core market is Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Depending on project scope, we deliver projects remotely or on-site across the EU.
